Chicago Blue Dolphins New Swimmer Orientation

If you are new to our Masters Swim Team or if you are thinking of joining our Masters Swim Team, here are some documents to read to help you understand our how “we do things around here.”

Masters Swimming Team Records

US Masters Swimming has three seasons throughout the year, a short-course meters (25 meter competition pool) season in the fall, a short-course yards (25 yard competition pool) season in the winter, and a long-course meters (50 meter competition pool) season in the summer. We’ve compiled team records by age-group for each of the three seasons below.

See where you fit in, shoot for a record, or establish one for your age-group. You can find the upcoming Masters meets at the Illinois Masters Website

Team Performance Sets

Periodically, we run performance sets to assess where each of our swimmers are and to give us a chance to compete against one another – all in good fun, of course. You’ll find descriptions of the test sets and documents below that describe each of our performance sets, provide entry sheets, and list the current results. Take a look at each of them and see where you would fit in.

Swimming Golf Performance Set

The Swimming Golf Performance Set is a test of technical ability and conditioning. It can be used as a benchmark to indicate technique improvement over time. You’ll swim a series of swim repeats and a partner will get your swimming pace, your strokes per length, and your stroke rate for each repeat. The sum of your average 50 pace in seconds and your average 50 stroke count will be your “golf score.” We’ll use your golf score and your stroke rate to work on improving your technique and efficiency. We do this test set every 6 weeks. For more information on the set, please read the documents below:

T-Swim Performance Set (30/20/15 Minute Swim for Distance)

The idea of the T-Swim Performance Set is to see how far you can swim in a given amount of time. This test is an excellent practical indicator of your current swimming ability and is an ideal way to assess both your technique and conditioning levels at the same time. We do this test set every 6 weeks. For more information on the set, please read the documents below:
